Day 1 - 3 - Arriving and At Sea

We landed in Rome on Friday, Nov. 30 after a 7 1/2 hr flight from Philadelphia.  We rented our car and headed for the Borthese Gallery/villa which was occupied in the 1400's by an old Roman family who were patrons of Bernini, the sculptor.  Many of his works and pre-Renaissance painting are part of the collection here as well as magnificent gardens.

After the Borghese Gallery, we headed for Naples (about 3 hrs southeast of Rome). We stayed oveernight at the Grand Hotel on the Gulf of Naples and had an awesome sight of Mr. Vesusius, the fort and the harbor - we will be returning to Naples on the last day of our cruise (one of the substitutions for Egypt). Weather has been great as they have experienced much rain in the last week - sunny and 60's.
Today and tomorrow we will be at sea sailing to Alanya, Turkey. Stay tuned for some really interesting pics.
